Panakam: Traditional Hydration for Devotees

Beat the Heat with Tradition > As temperatures rise during the Sri Rama Navami celebrations at Cheruvu Bazar, the distribution of Panakam serves as a vital source of hydration for the thousands of devotees in attendance. This ancient cooling drink—crafted from jaggery, black pepper, and cardamom—is more than just a spiritual offering; it is a natural electrolyte restorer. Volunteers throughout the temple premises ensure that every visitor stays hydrated and energized, providing a refreshing break in the midst of the vibrant festivities.

Major Highlights of the Celebration:

  • Sita Rama Kalyanam: The "Kalyanotsavam" (divine wedding) is performed by Vedic priests with traditional chants. Devotees participate in the ritual by offering Talambralu and seeking blessings for harmony and prosperity.

  • The Vibrant Shobha Yatra: A grand procession (Shobha Yatra) typically passes through the main streets of Cheruvu Bazar and Gandhi Chowk. The atmosphere is electric with "Jai Shri Ram" slogans, traditional drum beats (Dappu), and decorated floats.
